A week to remember…

When all about you are losing their heads, including one’s own, it’s probably because you’re laughing too much…

Started rehearsals for ‘In the Meantime’ last week Ciaran Murtagh and Andrew Jones (www.blacksheepcomedy.co.uk) entry in this year’s SitCommission sitcom competition.

Their brand new comedy set in 1498 on the HMS Lillyliver charts the crew’s determination to discover America. Sent out of Portsmouth with strict instructions from His Majesty not to return without a cargo hold full of potatoes and baccy, with no idea in which direction to sail, and with England’s most expendable captain at the helm, it’s going to be a long…long trip…

Now…

There are few times in one’s life when you walk into a rehearsal with; a new piece of writing, 15 hours at your disposal (spread over 5 days btw), the immutable deadline of two performances in one day (one in front of industry people!) hanging over one’s head, and, from the outset, feel completely at home.

I’d like to be able to say this was one of those times…After all it usually takes a little time to feel comfortable making a complete and utter *** of oneself with people you hardly know. It does me anyway…

I’m delighted to say it was.

I can’t remember when I laughed so much – A Christmas Carol maybe?, Sparrow Heights definately? In any event my stomach muscles got a workout to remember.

BIG thanks to Jamie Harper, James Sutherland, Lee Ranns, Stephen Harvey, Ciaran and Andrew.
